Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna said there will be no power cuts in Haridwar city for the convenience of the pilgrims


Haridwar/ Dehradun 12 May:
Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna said there will be no power cuts in Haridwar city for the convenience of the pilgrims. He also assured to consider seriously the demands presented by Saint Community.
Chief Minister speaking at the meeting of INTUC in Bhalla College on Saturday said that looking into the convenience of pilgrims there would be no power cuts in the Haridwar City. He said that though the total capacity of power generation in the state was 27,000 MW, only 3500 MW power was being generated. He said that the sate was bound to purchase power from neighbouring state Himachal Pradesh to meet the required demand.
Mr. Bahuguna said that the rights of the workers would be ensured. He said that the state government was putting efforts in the direction of increasing the wages of workers in MNREGA also. Looking into the requirement of skilled workers in industries to be set up in Haridwar, the state Government has decided to establish ITIs and Polytechnic Colleges in border districts. He disclosed that Mahindra Group has proposed to invest Rs. 3,000 crore in automobile sector in Uttarakhand.
Mr. Bahuguna stating that all the rivers were sacred said that an open debate would be conducted on environmental issues so that balance could be maintained between environment and the development.
National President of INTUC Sanjiva Reddy said that local people should to be given priority in the employment. He also advocated ending contract system and stopping exploitation of workers. Congress Leader Suryakant Dhasmana said that Hydro-power projects were the strength of state economy.
